Diane has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor.  She has been practicing counseling since 1993.

Diane specializes in working with children/teens and their families.  She works with adults as well.  Diane works with a variety of concerns but her passion is working with children and adolescents with learning disabilities and/or ADHD.  As a mother of two children with LD/ADHD, Diane brings a unique perspective in treating this population.  Additionally, Diane treats anxiety, depression, divorce/blended families, grief and trauma.

Diane believes the therapeutic relationship is essential to growth and healing, recognizing the importance of a good fit between therapist and client.  Diane is gentle and supportive yet honest and direct in her approach.  She has a conversational style, providing empathic listening but also giving feedback and guidance as needed. In working with children/teens, Diane involves parents as an integral part of the work.  She considers the child in the context of the family system and works to improve communication and family relationships .

Diane takes a holistic approach to counseling, considering a person’s mind, body and spirit.  She believes a healthy balance of these aspects of one’s life bring a person to where they will feel and function at their best.   Diane assists her clients with exploring and expressing feelings to facilitate healing, with developing a positive cognitive/belief system and with building on skill deficits and coping skills.   Diane operates from a psychodynamic framework but utilizes techniques from family systems, cognitive-behavioral,  solution-focused, reality therapy and expressive/creative arts therapies.

Diane has additional training as follows:

  • EMDR (Level I)

  • Mindfulness through Mindful Schools (mindfulschools.org)

  • Grief/Suicide Support Group Facilitator through American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP.org)

  • Critical Incident Stress Debriefing

Diane considers it a great privilege to witness the growth and progress her clients make in achieving their goals and in bringing their lives into balance.
